Knowing your coffees journey is one of the most important aspects of sourcing coffee. By choosing to source your coffee from an independent coffee roaster you will be able to get a much more detailed story behind your coffee. Larger commercial suppliers usually have interesting marketing slogans but try and probe behind the words and see if there is any substance there. Can they tell you about the farmers, how was it grown, what were they paid for their crop?
